The following story, shared by a Saint Ann School father, is a testament to how the Hand in Hand program blesses all students.
This summer, my parents took their grandchildren, including my son and his two cousins, all students at Saint Ann School, camping in Townsend, Tennessee. On one of the days of their trip, I received a text message from my mom. She recounted: “After a long day of activities, the kids wanted to swim so we headed to the pool at the campground. While they were swimming, another family entered the pool area. One of the children was a boy with Down Syndrome, who was about the same age as the grandkids. With great pride, we watched the grandchildren playing with all of the children from the other family, making sure all of the children were involved in their play. We knew their exposure to the Hand in Hand program at Saint Ann was the reason they without any hesitation, made sure to include all of the other family’s children.” Later, my wife talked to our son about the camping trip and told him how kind she thought it was that they had included the other family, especially the young boy with Down syndrome, in their pool-time activity. My son replied, “why wouldn’t we have included him?” Without question, the blessings of the Hand in Hand program at Saint Ann were on full display!
