Model United Nations

Geography Bee

Model United Nations is when students from 7th and 8th grade get to see what the United Nations members do.  Students make presentations on how to help the country of their choice.  The students that participate vote for each other to decide who's presentation was better and the winners will go to the next level of the competition.

The Geography Bee is a competition that St. Ann competes in with other school around the world.  This Bee tests the students' knowledge of geography.  The  Geo Bee gives some multiple choice questions and some short answer questions.  Some of the questions involve labeling maps and other ways of testing their knowledge of geography.

Math Competitions

Spelling Bee

St. Ann competes in multiple math competitions including a math competition at Father Ryan for 6th through 8th grade.  We compete against other Catholic and some non-Catholic schools at the same level of mathematics.

The Spelling Bee is probably the most well-known competition that St. Ann is involved in.  The Spelling Bee is where students are given words to spell.  The students that spell the most words correctly move on to the next round which is within the district.

St. Ann chooses 2 students from 6th grade, 4 from 7th grade, and 4 from 8th grade for a math competition at Father Ryan High School.  There is 4 students from 7th grade because St. Ann has 2 math classes; General Math and Pre-Algebra.  It is the same with 8th grade except there is Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1.

Chip Challenge

The Chip Challenge is where each student that competes makes a package for a "Pringles" potato chip and they will send it to the evaluating school.  There the evaluation is based on the condition that the chip is in.  The judges will score the chip based on how many pieces the chip is in.
