Building on Bourges began in 1195. it was funded by donations from the bishop of Bourges Henri de Sully. it was dedicated May 13, 1324 lacking the completion of the north tower which was later named Tour de Beurre or the Butter Tower. The cathedral is mostly of Gothic architecture, but due to a delay in the construction of the north tower, it was decorated with some renaissance art. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The front door depict the Last Judgments described in the bible. they depict devils with snake-tails and faces below the waist witch depict the sinful appetites of demons. The stained glass shows stories and parables from the New Testament. There is also a statue of Jean de Berry, the architectural patron of Bourges, and his wife kneeling in prayer in the central chapel. their is also an astronomical clock that shows that Charles IIV and Marie d'Anjou were married in the cathedral on April 22, 1422. |
