About Amiens

Construction on the cathedral was started 1220 and it was completed in 1269.  It was destroyed  by two fires.  The biggest one, that destroyed a lot of the cathedral, was in 1958.  When it was finally finished, it became the tallest cathedral France, and still is today.  Below is a link to a website.

About Gothic Architecture

Gothic architecture was brought in after Romanesque went out of date.  It was so much more precise and labyrinth.  At this time spires were built to get closer to God.  Gargoyles were built to keep evil spirits away.  The inside was more colorful and had the scriptures on the windows.
